This bell is not only useful it’s a true work of art. The central sunburst is surrounded by 16 different designs which give way to a tassel effect around the perimeter. Note how even that area has alternating patterns for background. That astounding cast brass or bronze dome sits atop a finely scalloped cast iron base.

Made by Sargent & Co. it bears a patent date of July 2, 1872 embossed on the back and would have been manufactured around that time. The bell is currently set with its original pull chain. It can be used inside to call for your servants or, if you don’t have servants, what better way to call the gang to dinner? If mounted on the exterior of an old house it would likely be heard inside due to loose construction or how about calling the kids home from play? It can also be used as a traditional doorbell by removing the chain and pairing it with a doorbell lever. The lever would insert where the chain is shown coming out of the back of the bell. All of the levers offered individually here will fit this bell.

The interior of this bell has been cleaned and oiled and works perfectly.

Bell 3-3/4” diameter
