This is the most unusual antique doorbell lever I have ever seen!  A lovely hand painted porcelain knob sits atop the ornate cast iron arm and back plate.  The condition is absolutely fantastic!  The hand painting shows no wear and the original varnish has only a few places where it is missing.

I am unable to find the maker of this lever.  There is a date of June 8 on the back (I had to remove the varnish to see it).  The year is too faint to see but I would believe it to be between 1870 and 1890.

With both a hole at the end of the lever shaft and the guide lines for cutting it, it appears that this pull could be used with a series of pulleys and wires to connect to a bell (through the wall) or as a standard lever mounted on the door. If not being used with a wire through the hole the spindle would need to be cut. It will then operate all gong bells on this site noted as lever operated.

Lever is 2-1/8” wide x 4-1/8” high
