This is one of the most frequently seen patterns in turn of the century homes.  Simple, yet elegant, the Egg & Dart pattern is appropriate for most styles of architecture.  Great to retrofit modern doors that have had the large hole cut in them.  These door plates are wide enough to cover any repairs that were necessary.  To find out how to repair the big hole, go to FAQ.

Doorknobs and door plates are wrought steel that originally had a copper antique finish which is mostly gone.  The knobs are a dark chocolate brown from age and are not as red as they appear in the photos.  The plates have varied colors including dark brown, steel grey and copper. The mortise locks have been taken apart, cleaned and each operates perfectly.  The skeleton key provided operates all locks. The lock faces are steel with a worn copper wash and the casings are cast iron.  Strike and deadbolt are iron.  The strike plates are steel with an aged patina.

The locks are reversible for a right or left hand door.  Open the casing, flip the strike over, and close the casing again.  Easy!
