This is an iron split spindle that allows the doorknobs on either side of a door to turn independently. It is used for mortise locks that have push buttons or tabs on the face of the lock. When locked the knob on the inside will retract the strike but the knob on the exterior will not. The spindle has been cleaned & oiled and rotates freely. Screw holes have been tapped and two new brass set screws are included.
Standard 1/4” square spindle with stop. The stop (part that keeps the spindle from going all the way through the lock) may differ from photo. Stock rotates and the spindle currently available is 4-1/2" long. Widest screw spacing 4" and shortest screw spacing 2-5/8".
