Smaller Late 1800s Single Stroke Doorbell – Lever Operated

With its plain nickel plated brass dome and ribbed cast iron base this antique doorbell makes a simple, yet elegant, statement.  This doorbell is a bit smaller than the other lever bells shown here but its single melodic ring belies its size.  Made by Sargent & Co. it bears a patent date of July 2, 1872 embossed on the back.  

I’ve polished the nickel a bit but it still has a warm aged look. Some of the photos show a reddish cast but the dome is similar to the color of pewter. The interior has been cleaned and oiled and works perfectly. There is a chip out of the cast iron but it’s not that noticeable and might be mistaken as the way it was cast.  All of the levers offered individually here will fit this bell and photos show how it would be mounted.
