Small Brass Late 1800s Single Stroke Doorbell – Lever Operated

With its plain brass dome and ribbed cast iron base this antique doorbell makes a simple, yet elegant, statement.  This doorbell is a bit smaller but its single melodic ring belies its size.  Made by Sargent & Co. it bears a patent date of July 2, 1872 embossed on the back.  

The brass bell dome has aged to a mottled patina  The interior has been cleaned and oiled and works perfectly.  I added a washer to the dome so the gong is more melodic (it’s rather clunky without it).  There is a chip out of the cast iron but it’s not that noticeable since the bell mounts with the tabs horizontally and the chip is on the bottom portion.  All of the levers offered individually here will fit this bell.
