Simple Brass Door Hardware

These are classic brass sets that were manufactured somewhere between 1900 and the 1930’s. They are perfect for a home whose history and architecture dictates simple hardware and the smaller door plates are quite hard to find.

These wrought brass knobs and plates have various levels of patina as you can see in the photos. About half of the plates have been polished while the other half have patina. The knobs are also varied in patina since those used more often are “polished” by many hands over the years. There are no substantial dents or scratches on any of the brass. The strike plates are made of steel with worn brass plating. Some have been cut in the center which was a common way to adjust a door that had settled rather than adjusting the door itself. They still work as intended and are actually a bit easier to install.

The locks have all been taken apart, cleaned and oiled. They all operate perfectly. The face plates are brass with varied patina and the lock body is cast iron. They are reversible for a right or left hand door. Simply open the casing and flip the strike over. There are no skeleton keys provided but you can pick some up for about $2 each by going to Home Depot or Lowes. They have them for sale at the area where you have regular key duplicates made. Those keys will operate all these locks and I guarantee the deadbolt function works as it should on every one.

These sets are sold individually and the above price is for 2 knobs, 2 door plates, 1 lock, 1 strike plate and 1 spindle with new brass plated set screws. There is one knob that does not have the band around the edge. The set with that knob is the only one left.

Knobs: 2-1/4” diameter

Spacing: Center of doorknob hole to center of round portion of keyhole 2-1/8”
Lock face plate: 7/8” x 5-1/4”
