Sargent Turn of the Century Doorknobs and Plates with Verdigris

The naturally occurring verdigris on this set is so colorful I couldn’t bear to remove it! I’ve polished up the high points a bit for contrast on the plates but the knobs retain their original patina with only minimal verdigris. These pieces were made by Sargent & Co. around the turn of the century and, as you can see, have fantastic detailing.

The knobs and plates are made from heavy cast bronze with all detail remaining crisp and clear. If you choose to remove the verdigris, soaking in Lime-Away, or an equivalent, will remove it. The set screw on one knob proved difficult to remove so I opted to leave it alone. The screw holes on the other end have been tapped for ease of installation and allow a door thickness between 1-3/8” – 1-13/16”.
