Made by Russell and Erwin, this mortise lock is shown in their 1887 hardware catalog. The lock casing bears their logo on one side and a patent date of July 15, 1862 on the other. The logo is also embossed on the front of the deadbolt. Although the ornate face and strike plates are made of bronze, they have the appearance of brass with a copper toned background. In the photo the strike plate represents the color more closely. This mortise lock goes very well with doorknob set DS1051.

This set has been fully restored. Face and strike plate are cast bronze. Lock casing is cast iron. Strike and dead bolt are bronze. Strike plate has pattern on both sides. Lock is reversible for right or left hand doors. Remove one screw, flip the strike over and close the lock again. Ready for another 100 years of use!

You may order a skeleton key for this lock by going to DSP1007 in Door Hardware/Small Parts.
