Russell & Erwin 1887 Figural Stair Rail Bracket

This fierce gargoyle will protect your stairway from all sorts of evil! It was made around 1887 and is shown in that Russell & Erwin hardware catalog. A wonderfully ornate way to secure your stair rail to the adjacent wall.  The main part of the bracket would attach to the wall and the “U” shaped piece attaches to the rail.  The perfect touch for a grand stairway!

Made of strong cast iron with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is a bit of roughness here and there from old rust (since removed) but details remain crisp and clear.

U piece 2-3/8” wide
Protrudes 4-1/8” from wall (to the gargoyle nose)
