Rare Entry Set with Large Fluted Glass Knobs and Ornate Rosettes

This set has been assembled for a grand entry and the parts are rare for a number of reasons. The sparkling fluted glass knobs are much larger than is typically seen – measuring 2-3/8” point to point. The heavy cast bronze rosettes for the knobs and deadbolt are the ones used for the 1920’s Steven’s Hotel in Chicago with their standing lion knobs. The details are fantastic with a wreath of laurel leaves and berries tied with ribbons. This set would be spectacular for a home that has the small fluted glass knobs in the interior!

All the brass and gold bronze has been polished to a brilliant shine and all are in premium condition. The rosettes are made of thick cast bronze and are signed by Sargent & Company on the backs. The lock cylinder rosette features a spring loaded collar and pins on the back to keep it nicely in place. The ferrules of the glass knobs are brass as is the interior night lock. I found only one tiny flea bite on one glass knob. The lock has been taken apart and been fully reconditioned. The old black paint on the lock casing was wire brushed and both the interior and exterior of the casing was repainted. The face plate of the lock has some dings as would be expected and does not have as high a shine as the other pieces. The lock is signed by Sargent on the deadbolt nose. The lock cylinder is a replacement and includes 2 keys. All mounting screws are included but not pictured. This set does not come with a strike plate. If needed I can direct you to a reproduction hardware company to obtain one.

The lock is reversible for a right or left hand door. Simply open the lock casing and flip the strike over. This set will accommodate a door up to 1-7/8” thick. If your door is thicker you will need to replace the lock cylinder.
