Rare Circa 1870’s Cast Bronze Rosette

This stunning rosette is a hard pattern to find and the condition is just as rare. It has a central sunburst design surrounded by tiny incised bull’s eyes. Be sure to enlarge the photo to see it more clearly. The background is not the standard black enamel but a factory created black metal. It was found covered with thick paint which preserved it beautifully. There is not one nick or scratch and the gilding remains intact. This rosette is quite a bit thicker bronze than those from the late 1800’s so I would date it in the 1870’s. The manufacturer is unknown.
