Rare 1886 Branford Entry or Passage Door Knob Set

This exquisite pattern by Branford Lock Works is rarely found and with the original japanned black background intact is even more amazing! Be sure to enlarge all the photos to see the intricate fine detail!  It even covers the back of the doorknobs!

One rosette is a smidgen larger than the other and that is why I really like this set being used for an entry door.  It causes the keyhole cover to be so close to the rosette they almost seem to become one piece. If you look closely at the main photo compared with the second smaller one you’ll see what I mean. The keyhole covers were missing at the point of salvage so I’ve replaced them with P & F Corbin covers of the same era.  They have the same design elements and japanned background to make a truly stunning set!
 
The knobs, rosettes and keyhole covers are all made of heavy cast bronze with no damage and have been polished to a warm glow.  The Branford mortise lock has been cleaned, the face plate polished and operates perfectly. The included strike plate has been polished as well.  The steel spindle has been tapped for new brass set screws to ensure an easy installation.  The lock is reversible for a right or left hand door. Simply open the lock casing and turn the strike over.  I do not have a key for this lock but will guarantee the deadbolt functions properly. See your local locksmith to have one made.
