These turn of the century cast iron hinges are both strong and beautiful.  Cross hatching on the sides and a stylized flower motif in the center give them a very charming appeal.  And you’ll really appreciate them when you’re bringing things in and out.  With the door fully open they will hold the door in place; and then close it with a gentle nudge!  These hinges are also attractive and useful on small pantry or access doors inside the home.

They are still in great shape with strong springs.  One hinge has a casting flaw (not broken) that can be seen in the side view photo.  I doubt that anyone would notice unless pointed out.  A bit of surface rust primarily on the backs as would be expected.  I would recommend that they be painted with a rust inhibiting paint for exterior use.  They have not been oiled so are ready for paint.  They were originally gloss black and a few bits of old paint remain.   Note:  In the photo of the backs one hinge appears larger due to the camera angle.  They are both the same size.
