The diapered pattern and picketing on the sides give these late 1800’s hinges a very Victorian appeal.  The manufacturing company has embossed their logo AC (or CA?) in the center but after so long we sadly don’t know who to credit the workmanship to :o)  These hinges are especially handy when taking things in and out of the house.  With the door fully open they will hold the door in place; and then close it with a gentle nudge – and resounding BANG!

These hinges are also attractive and useful on small pantry or access doors inside the home.
They are still in great shape with strong springs.  One hinge has a casting flaw (not broken) that can be seen in the side view photo.  A bit of surface rust primarily on the backs as would be expected.  I would recommend that they be painted with a rust inhibiting paint for exterior use.  They have not been oiled so are ready for paint.  They were originally gloss black and a few bits of old paint remain.
