This antique doorbell set has all the ornamentation so loved by Victorian homeowners!  On the bell a four-fold tulip motif is surrounded by a ring of tiny flowers and geometrics.  The lever has lots of swirls both in shape and pattern.  It will be pure delight entering or leaving your home!

This doorbell and lever were manufactured by P & F Corbin in the late 1800s.  The bell has the patent date of Dec. 30, 1878 embossed on the back.  Both the bell and the lever are shown in the Corbin 1895 catalog so these would have been manufactured between 1878 and 1895.  A copy of the catalog pages will be included with the purchase of this item.

This bell has an interesting double ring each time the lever is pulled.  All parts are made of heavy cast iron with the exception of a bronze knob on top of the bell.  The internal parts and cast iron base have been cleaned and oiled.  The bell dome and all sides of the lever have been given a lacquer clear coat.  The ball strike was broken and a replacement has been welded on.  The lever and the bell do not sit center-to-center.  I’ve put a red arrow in the photo of the bell bottom to indicate where the lever inserts.

Please note that the handle of the lever more accurately depicts its color.  Any red in the photos is due to reflection of the wood background.  (Darn that flash!)

Bell assembly is 4-1/2” diameter
Lever is 2-1/8” wide x 3-1/2”
The lever accommodates a door up to 2” thick
