This is a stunning intermediate sized lock made by Sargent & Co. in the late 1800’s or early 1900’s. The bronze face plate is a true work of art with its strong geometrics and a touch of foliate details. The casing is signed by the maker and bears patent dates of Feb 24, 1885 and Jan 26, 1886.

This lock is completely restored right down to the black paint on the casing – inside and out. Everything works perfectly although a spring inside looks a bit hokey. Not to worry though – I doubt that anyone will be looking inside the lock :o) The thick bronze face plate, strike and deadbolt have been polished to a brilliant glow leaving the recessed areas darker. Some minor dings as is expected with a lock this old. The face plate has a slight bend at the top that is best straightened during installation. Bronze is very soft and placing a block of wood over it and tapping with a hammer will straighten it right out.

This lock is reversible for a right or left hand door. Just open the casing and flip the strike over.

I do not have a key for this lock but guarantee the deadbolt function works. You can take it to your local locksmith to have one made or I can have my locksmith cut one (or more). The charge is $25 per key and you can just add that amount to your payment when you write the check. Allow 2 weeks after I receive payment for it to ship to allow time to make the key(s).

Faceplate: 1” x 6-5/8”
Spacing: 2-7/8”  (center of doorknob hole to center of round portion of keyhole)
