Ornate Pipe Flange – Reading “Montello”

This darling piece of antique hardware may have started life as a wrought bronze doorknob rosette but a rosette was made in one solid piece so I'm uncertain. The central hole is so perfect it appears original. It was made by Reading Hardware in their Montello design in the late 1800s.

Many historic homes have holes through the walls and/or floors for gas, water or radiator pipes and this would make an excellent pipe flange for a Victorian finishing touch. Homeowners during the Victorian era had decorative hardware on every conceivable surface. Why should you be any different? It’s the little things that will set your home apart from the rest!
