Although the cast iron latch and knob with dolphins playing is darn cute what makes this set very rare is the tiny white porcelain knob on the outside of the door. The knob has the sought after crackling and a bronze shaft to match the flowery bronze rosette. A bronze knob to lock the door on the latch carries the bronze inside. All pieces were made in the late 1800’s with the exception of the vintage bronze plated steel strike plate.

All parts are in excellent operating and aesthetic condition. Note that the crackling of the porcelain in no way compromises the integrity of the knob. This latch is for an outward swinging door and could also be used for a pantry, powder room or cabinet door.  It is installed with the lock and one knob surface mounted on the interior and the rosette with knob on the outside. The little strike plate is installed on the door jamb or molding. Be sure your door has enough stile width to accommodate the rosette location. I’ve included a photo with the dimension.
