Iron 1/4" Spindle for Antique & Vintage Doorknobs

These spindles have been cleaned and all the screw holes have been tapped so that the new set screws sold here insert easily.  If you are using your own old screws you might want to request that the holes not be tapped in the Comments section at checkout.  The spindles come in various lengths but the important part is where the screw holes are located.  To ensure that you receive the correct spindle, please measure as follows:

Place your door hardware (including knobs) against the door and measure the distance between the screw holes in the doorknobs.  Include that dimension in the Comments section at checkout.  Note that if you order several spindles they will not all be exactly the same. 

These spindles fit very snugly inside doorknobs.  Sometimes over the years your doorknobs will accumulate tiny bits of dirt and debris inside the shaft which make it difficult for the spindle to be inserted.  It only happens once in a while but I’ve found that it is easier to just sand or file the spindle (takes about 2 minutes) than to try and clean the inside of the doorknob!
