High Victorian Antique Lever Doorbell

This antique doorbell came from a fine Victorian mansion and it can now be yours!  Both the bell and lever are festooned with artistic metal art work.  On the bell a central sunburst is surrounded by 16 different designs which give way to a tassel effect around the perimeter.  Note how even that area has alternating patterns for background.  The cast bronze lever is decorated with Victorian swirls with a shapely ornate knob just waiting for your guests to pull it down!  You can also attach a cord or chain to the lower interior tab for some fun ringing the bell from inside the house!

Both pieces were made by Sargent & Co. and are shown in their 1884 catalog and would have been manufactured around that time.  The bell bears patent dates of July 4, 1878 and June 10, 1882.  Copies of the catalog pages will be provided with this purchase.  

The bell dome is either brass or bronze.  The lever is bronze.  Both have been lightly polished.  You may want to polish them more or let them age for a nice patina.  The cast iron interior and base of this bell have been cleaned and oiled and everything works perfectly.
