This is an absolutely gorgeous set in Barrows’ Geneva pattern that includes a keyed lock with strike plate.  The heavy cast iron knobs and escutcheons were originally copper plated and have worn to a new kind of beautiful.  The knobs have only a faint glow left while the door plates have much of the plating left for a mottled patina.  Even the worn plating on the lock face and strike plate matches!

This set was made by Barrows Lock Company of Lockport, Illinois and is shown in their 1925 hardware catalog.  That same year the company was purchased by Yale & Towne but continued to manufacture under the name Barrows.

Doorknobs and door plates are made of heavy cast (not pressed) iron.  The steel strike plate has a small bend that does not affect its use.  The original lock with heavy cast iron casing has been cleaned and operates perfectly.  New skeleton key throws the deadbolt smoothly.  The face plate is steel with worn copper plating.  Lock is reversible for right or left hand doors.  Remove the lock cover, flip the strike over and close the lock again – simple!  All pieces have been given a lacquer clear coat for a soft glow and to protect them.  Original spindle and set screws (not pictured) is included.
