In the early 1800’s England exported many of these wrought iron locks to America and they are still highly sought and treasured. This lock bears the brass medallion with crest and No. 60, JAs CARPENTER, PATENTEE still clearly visible. These locks are unique in that the strike goes up and down rather than in and out like those made in America.

This lock has been taken apart and cleaned of old nasty lead based paint. The patina of the brass strike, deadbolt and doorknob hub has been retained. There has been no oil applied in case you would want to paint it. Although there is no key I will guarantee that all functions operate perfectly. The keeper (or catch) is also missing. You may already have one and just need a replacement for the lock or, since the construction is wrought iron rather than cast iron, you might have one made. Note that his lock is not reversible and must be used on a right hand door.

Lock is 4-3/8” high x 5-1/8” wide
Backset is 3-3/16”
