These solid bronze sets were made by Yale & Towne in the very early 1900’s and their quality workmanship is clearly evident in the fine details. Along with other Victorian ornamentation the door plates feature a pair of dolphins at the bottom. Be sure to enlarge the photos to see it all!
All parts are wrought bronze with patina. I’ve lightly polished the high portions so they stand out more. They are all in excellent antique condition and the only little ding I see is on one door plate. As you can see in the photographs it is almost invisible. Door knob spindles are pinned to the knobs on one side of the door and a set screw is used on the other side to allow for precise adjustment of any door thickness. I’ve installed the pinned knobs on the spindles since they’re a bit tricky to do. The pins have not been hammered fully in since there is another adjustment you might want to use.
These sets are sold individually and the above price is for one set. You will receive 2 knobs, 2 plates and one spindle with pin and set screw. The number In Stock indicates how many sets are available.
The spacing for the doorknob and keyhole is greater than a typical passage mortise lock so unless you happen to already have locks that fit these plates you might want to use them with a latch and have the keyhole as a decorative feature. You can find latches by going to
