The elegant simplicity of these domed picture nails go with any décor. The white porcelain is in pristine condition and set off by a simple bronze setting. Polish the bronze if you wish or leave with the dark patina for authenticity. The nail part unscrews and is hammered into your wall. Good idea to put a nut over the end or pre-drill the hole so the threads are not damaged. The porcelain button is then screwed on to it.
In the Victorian era pictures and paintings were hung with the wire or decorative rope/ribbon showing. The picture nail was an important element to set off the art work with jewelry-like flair. This picture nail (or an identical one) is shown in the Russell & Erwin 1887 antique hardware catalog. These are also sometimes used as a tassel tie-back for window curtains.
The above price is for one nail.
3/4” diameter
2-1/4” screw in nail
