This beautiful set of knobs and matching rosettes was made by Reading Hardware in 1890 and referenced as their “Windsor” design.  Lots of geometrics but the style differs quite a bit from the 1897 “Windsor”.  I doubt that Reading Hardware thought about the confusion this might create over 100 years later!

These wrought bronze pieces are in excellent condition and retain a nice caramel patina. The only issue I note is a little ding on the bottom edge of the banding on one doorknob – too small to photograph. The mortise latch works perfectly but has a few cosmetic flaws. The face plate has some ripples and dings and is ever so slightly bent. This is best resolved during installation by placing a piece of hard wood over it and tapping with a hammer (bronze is a soft metal).  A square steel spindle with original set screws is included.
