Antique Victorian Mechanical Twist Doorbell

This rather petite late 1800s set is sure to impress your guests!   The wrought bronze twist is just covered with Victorian style detail on both the plate and the grip.  Not to be forgotten, the bell is adorned with fancy metal work on the cast iron base as well!  Great “burring” ring that can be heard several rooms away!  

The bell has been taken apart and cleaned of any rust/dirt, oiled and now operates perfectly. The nickel plating on the steel dome was almost completely worn away so I’ve polished the steel a bit and lacquered it for an old world shine. The fancy cast iron bell base has been oiled to give it a mellow glow.  The twist is cast/wrought bronze with a nice caramel patina.  Note that the grip is not as light as it appears in the photo of just the twist. If you’re wondering why there is a silver color inside the house and bronze on the outside – well, that’s just the way they were made back then.

This antique doorbell is meant to be mounted on the door with the twist on the exterior and the bell inside.  The operating rod allows a door thickness of 1-1/2” to 2”.  If your door is thinner, the rod can easily be cut down to fit.  Note that due to the repeated design both the twist and the bell can be mounted either horizontally or vertically.

Antique slotted mounting screws with patina are included.
