Antique Victorian Hinges by Russell & Erwin – 2 Pair Available

These antique hinges have a splendid mix of geometric and foliate designs! Look closely to see the bowl of flowers towards the top and along the bottom a row of urns.  All set off by the wonderfully ornate finials with twin rows of beading and little sprigs of leaves.  Be sure to enlarge the photos to see it all!

These antique hinges were made by Russell & Erwin around 1887 and there were two different finial designs offered. This is the more ornate of the two. They were originally finished with what R & E called “Kahala” bronze.  The Kahala bronze was not a bronze plating but rather a varnish type finish with a golden hue.  It has since worn off and the cast iron is now an almost black patina.

Both sets are in exceptional condition with unadorned backs. The pins remove easily and the lower finials unscrew for removal.
