Antique Victorian Cast Iron Steeple Tip Hinges

These 3-1/2” x 4” hinges are from the late 1800’s and feature swirling vines on a finely stippled background.  The detail is very deeply incised and the ornate hinge barrels show when the door is closed. They are in excellent condition with a dark iron patina. There are a few minor casting flaws that attest to their age and authenticity.

As you can see in the “before” picture these hinges were covered with several layers of thick paint when I received them. All but just a few specks of paint has been removed. As you can see in the large photo (the most paint you would see on any) the amount of paint is negligible. If you are planning on re-painting them black as they originally were or wire brushing for a more silver color, that amount of paint specks wouldn’t matter. They have not been oiled so are ready for whatever finish you choose to do. The pins now remove easily.   

These are much stronger than modern hinges and were installed two per door. Of course if you prefer the look of three per door there’s nothing saying you can’t do that. Price above is for each hinge.
