Antique Nashua Egyptian Motif Antique Door Plates

In the late 1800’s Nashua produced Victorian hardware with a distinct Egyptian motif. These cast iron door plates are one of their most popular patterns and were most often paired with black glazed clay knobs – although there is no reason to restrict them. They even look fantastic with round or fluted glass knobs manufactured a bit later. Note the square picketed doorknob collar to set off whatever knob you choose to use!

These plates are in excellent condition with a medium iron patina. The background originally had black enamel paint and you can still see traces here and there. I haven’t oiled them in case you would want to replace it. The designs really pop out with the contrast then!
