Loads of Eastlake style incising adorns both the cast iron base and the brass handle on top of this fancy sash lock! The feathers on the pivoting arm resemble an eagle claw. These locks have a clever dual action lock function. The catch is first aligned and then another turn cinches it in place pulling the upper and lower sash together. I’ve included three pictures to show the action in detail - and also to show off the design!

These locks were patented in October of 1883. The patent date is cast onto the bottom of each lock but most have become illegible. Stock rotates and the latches I currently have are like the patina of the lower photos. All of the cast iron has a rich dark gray patina. Some may have minor surface rust on the bottoms where it cannot be seen.

Lock measures 2” wide x 1-1/4” deep (maximum dimension)
Catch measures 2” wide x 5/8” deep (maximum dimension)
