Antique Cupboard Latch with Basket Weave Details

This is a very pretty and unusual cabinet latch by a lesser known manufacturer, The Peck, Stow and Wilcox Company. The dual basket weave design was patented by William Gorman on their behalf on Feb. 11, 1890 as noted on the bottom of the latch. Some of bronze plating can still be seen on the knob and the catch while the base of the latch has a dark iron patina. Operates perfectly and the spring is still strong.
