These little double hooks were original manufactured for use in armoires before closets were a mainstay of home architecture. They are equally at home mounted under an open shelf where they can be seen. The patent date on the front of each hook is either 1809 or 1909. I’ve taken a photo of all before they were brushed and oiled so you can see my dilemma. The patent (whenever issued) would have been for the method of mounting the hook. The recess in the back of the hook accommodates a small square nut (it’s held in place by the recess area) so a bolt can be run down through the mounting board to give superior strength for heavy objects. Of course you can still run a screw directly up into the board if you wish.
They are in great condition with an iron patina – some darker than others. These hooks are sold individually. The above price is for one hook.
2-1/2” long and 3-1/4” wide
