Antique “Windsor” Victorian Mail or Letter Slot - No Flap

This cast iron mail slot has lost its flap but could still be used as an interior plate or perhaps to allow papers to be dropped through a door between rooms.  It was made around 1885 by Reading Hardware Company and the pattern is called Windsor.

The plate is made of strong cast iron with no chips or cracks.  You could use it “as is” inside the house but you might want to paint, lacquer or brass plate it if exposed to the weather.
