This antique artistic hardware is such a treat to the eye! Made of solid cast bronze the fine detail is a joy to behold. Be sure to enlarge the many photos to see it all. Even the original bronze mounting screws are included! I couldn’t resist taking a couple of photos showing the screws in place so you can see how they would look installed.
With its intermediate sized lock this set can be used for either an entry or passage door. The knobs, plates and keyhole covers are in exceptional condition and made of heavy cast bronze. The high portions have been polished slightly to even out the patina for all parts. There are no dents, scratches, bends or breaks other a tiny ding on the edge of one rosette. The original lock was too damaged to save so I have replaced it with an antique Norwalk lock that has never been used. The lock is very high quality with a thick bronze face and brass strike, deadbolt and cam. The lock casing is cast iron. Having never been used it is in perfect condition. The lock is reversible for a right or left hand door. Just open the lock, flip the strike over, and close it again. One of the original doorknob set screws is slightly damaged but still can be inserted and tightened. You might want to use it on the outside to make it difficult to remove the knob. Should you want to replace it I’ve included a new aged brass screw. You would need to tap the appropriate hole for a 10/24 thread. A new heavy steel strike plate with a black matte paint is included. I’ve even included some doorknob spacers for a perfect installation.
This lock is very high end and is more secure than a typical antique mortise lock. I do not have a key that would throw the deadbolt. You will have to have one made by your local locksmith.
